American Youth Opportunity Alliance (“AYOA,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) serves students and families through mentorship, leadership, sports, family support, workforce exposure, and community programs. By using this site or submitting a form, you agree to the terms that apply to your role.
1. Scope and Acceptance
These Terms & Conditions govern use of the AYOA website, registration forms, communications, events, youth programs, mentoring, volunteer service, employment applications, partnerships, sponsorships, and vendor relationships. A separate signed agreement, consent, waiver, school contract, employment document, or vendor agreement controls if it conflicts with these website terms.
2. Parent or Guardian Authority
A parent or legal guardian must submit or approve registration for a participant under 18 and represents that they have authority to provide required information and permissions. Students should not independently submit sensitive personal, medical, school, or family information. AYOA may verify identity, guardianship, emergency contacts, and consent before participation.
3. Program Eligibility and Membership
Program participation is subject to age, grade, capacity, location, safety, conduct, and program-specific requirements. Registration does not guarantee acceptance or placement. An active AYOA family membership is required for program participation. The current fee is $149 per family annually. One membership covers a parent or legal guardian and eligible children living in the same household. Additional program, equipment, travel, uniform, event, or activity fees may apply when disclosed before enrollment or purchase. The AYOA Membership Fee & Funds Use Policy governs coverage, refunds, scholarships, use of funds, and expenditure approval.
4. Enrollment, Accuracy, and Updates
Parents and guardians must provide accurate, current, and complete registration, emergency, health, accommodation, school, and contact information and promptly report changes. AYOA may pause or deny participation when required information or consent is missing, inaccurate, or creates an unresolved safety concern.
5. Youth Safety and Conduct
Students, parents, employees, mentors, volunteers, partners, vendors, and visitors must follow AYOA safety rules, codes of conduct, supervision requirements, anti-harassment standards, and lawful staff directions. Bullying, hazing, violence, threats, weapons, sexual misconduct, discrimination, retaliation, substance misuse, exploitation, unauthorized recording, and unsafe or abusive conduct are prohibited. AYOA may remove or suspend any person when reasonably necessary to protect participants or operations.
6. Child-Abuse Reporting
Texas law requires a person with reasonable cause to believe a child has been abused or neglected to report promptly as required by Chapter 261 of the Texas Family Code. AYOA personnel and representatives must not suppress, delay, investigate in place of authorities, or retaliate against a good-faith report. Emergencies should be reported to 911; suspected abuse or neglect may be reported to the Texas Abuse Hotline or law enforcement.
7. Mentors and Volunteers
Mentors and volunteers may be required to complete applications, interviews, reference checks, criminal-history or sex-offender checks where lawful, training, confidentiality agreements, safeguarding rules, and ongoing supervision. Approval is discretionary and may be withdrawn. Service does not create employment, compensation, agency authority, or permission for unsupervised contact, private transportation, overnight contact, or off-platform communication unless AYOA expressly authorizes it in writing.
8. Employees and Applicants
Employment applications do not create a promise of employment. Employees remain subject to applicable offer letters, handbooks, safeguarding policies, confidentiality duties, wage-and-hour requirements, equal-employment rules, and Texas law. Nothing on this site changes an at-will employment relationship where applicable or authorizes an employee to bind AYOA without written authority.
9. Partners, Sponsors, and Vendors
Partners, sponsors, contractors, and vendors must comply with applicable law, written agreements, youth-safety requirements, confidentiality duties, data-security requirements, insurance obligations, accessibility standards, and AYOA policies. Use of AYOA names, logos, student information, photographs, testimonials, facilities, mailing lists, or program materials requires prior written authorization. No website statement creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, exclusivity, or endorsement.
10. School and Education Records
When AYOA receives education records or personally identifiable student information from a school or district, AYOA will use and redisclose that information only as permitted by the applicable written agreement, parent consent, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). AYOA is not itself a school and does not claim that every record it creates is a FERPA education record.
11. Health, Emergency, and Accessibility Information
AYOA may request information reasonably needed for safe participation, emergency response, dietary needs, medication instructions, or accommodations. AYOA does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, or emergency services through this website. In an emergency, AYOA may contact 911, the listed emergency contact, or other appropriate authorities consistent with submitted consent and applicable law. Requests for reasonable disability-related accommodations should be made as early as possible.
12. Media and Communications
Photos, video, testimonials, or recordings of minors will be used only under the applicable consent or another lawful basis. Optional media permission may be declined without affecting basic eligibility unless recording is integral to a separately disclosed activity. Program-related calls, texts, and emails may be sent using information provided during registration; marketing messages may be declined as permitted by law.
13. Payments, Refunds, and Donations
Fees and donations may be processed by third-party payment providers. AYOA does not intentionally store full payment-card or bank-account numbers on this website. Refund, cancellation, scholarship, and transfer rules may vary by program and will be disclosed when applicable. Donations are voluntary; tax deductibility depends on AYOA’s status and the donor’s circumstances, and donors should consult a tax professional.
14. Website Use and Security
Users may not interfere with the site, bypass security, impersonate another person, submit false information, scrape or harvest data, upload malicious code, misuse forms, infringe rights, or use AYOA content for unlawful or unauthorized commercial purposes. AYOA may restrict access, preserve evidence, and cooperate with authorities when misuse is suspected.
15. Intellectual Property
AYOA names, logos, curricula, the 42 Codes of a Real Man materials, photographs, videos, designs, forms, and other original content are owned by or licensed to AYOA. Limited personal viewing does not transfer ownership or permit reproduction, modification, training of commercial systems, resale, fundraising use, or public distribution without written permission.
16. Privacy and Confidentiality
Use of personal information is governed by the AYOA Privacy Policy and any more specific consent, school agreement, employment notice, or vendor data-protection agreement. Participants must respect the privacy of other families and may not publish another student’s personal information, image, story, or program record without lawful authorization.
17. Disclaimers and Responsibility
AYOA will use reasonable care in operating its programs, but program schedules, locations, personnel, content, and availability may change. AYOA does not promise admission, academic credit, employment, athletic placement, behavior change, graduation, legal outcomes, or any specific result. Nothing in these terms excludes duties, remedies, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
18. Governing Law and Disputes
Texas law governs these terms, without overriding federal law or mandatory protections. Before filing a non-emergency claim, the parties are encouraged to provide written notice and allow 30 days for good-faith resolution. Unless another signed agreement or mandatory law provides otherwise, proceedings relating to these terms should be brought in a court with jurisdiction in Harris County, Texas.
19. Changes, Severability, and No Waiver
AYOA may update these terms prospectively by posting a revised effective date. Material changes affecting an active registration or signed agreement will be handled as required by law or that agreement. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent permitted. Failure to enforce a provision once is not a permanent waiver.
